This is a quick guide to setting up an android device to sync contacts with the MailSync+ service using CardDav-Sync free.

After you have installed CardDav-Sync free from the play store you should see this window:

When you open for the first time you should see the menu to the right:

• Choose CardDAV
• In the upper right click on the ⁝ icon.
  • Now check the box for "Use preemptive authentication"
• Now, enter Server name or URL: mail.a51.co:8443
• username: (this is your email address)
• enter your password
• tap "next", then "done"

That's it, your done!

Contacts should now sync between the server and your phone.

What is the difference between CardDAV-Sync free and the paid version of CardDAV-Sync?

The paid version will sync additional fields which can be very helpful in a business environment. Its also a great app so we recommend you spend the $2.09 and buy the paid version of the app.

Android supports CalDav/CardDav or SyncML for contacts and calendar synchronization.

Here are the steps to setup android with CardDav for Contact Synchronization. (preferred method)

1. From the google play store download "CardDAV-Sync free" from dmfs GmbH
2. From the add account screen choose "CardDAV"
3. In the upper right choose the " ⋮ " icon then "setup options" and check the box for "Use preemptive authentication" then use the back navigation button on your device to return to the previous screen.
4. Server Name / URL: mail.a51.co:8443
5. Username: {your email address}
6. Password: {your password}

Here are the steps to setup android with SyncML (alternative Method)

1. From the google play store download a syncml client
2. Once installed open the settings and choose manual setup
   • Enter your username(email address)
   • Password
   • Server URL
3. Click login, import your phone contacts(optional), click to sync contacts and calendar. You will not be able to sync any other services with android.

Open Calendar Application

1. Choose Accounts
2. Choose "Add Other Account..."
3. Under the Add a CalDav Account Menu
   • Account Type: Manual
   • Username: your email address
   • Password: your password
   • server: mail.a51.co
4. Sign In

Notes:

• If asked, leave server path blank
• Use SSL should be checked
• Leave everything else to defaults.
